For nearly three decades, Windmills has been welcoming pre-school children with additional needs. Whilst remaining a specialist setting, more recently we opened our doors to all local children, offering these little ones an inclusive and enriching experience before they go to full time school.

Despite our expertise and facilities, we receive no additional statutory funding and therefore rely heavily on grants and charitable donations to continue our work, and ensure a higher than average staff ratio and specialist equipment and toys.

Recently we received a large grant from the Big Lottery Fund to renew our storage area for resources for the playgroup, so that they are easier and safer to handle. To make the Maple Room a usable room during sessions, by setting up a computer workstation and a seating area for the children to read and work with the staff away from the main hall area..

In the past several local and national organisations have given us grants and donations, including Flowserve (Burgess Hill), our local Co-Operative store, St James’s Place Foundation, the Burgess Hill Lions and The Three Oaks Trust. We have also received personal donations, but still need to constantly raise funds to ensure the continuation of the services and facilities that we provide local children and their families.

If you wish to make a donation to support the Playgroup, you could either
